Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Palestinian Ambassador in Tehran Salah Zawawi sat in a meeting on Sunday to discuss the latest developments in Palestinian situation. Mr. Amir-Abdollahian ensured Palestinian ambassador that Iran’s principled policy was to improve cordial relations with all neighbors; “the great gap in the Islamic world regarding support for the Palestinian cause is deplorable; the world of Islam should develop a common policy toward the issue of Palestine as the most important issue of the Ummah,” he added.
Amir-Abdollahian condemned the Zionists’ misguided attempts to develop relations with Arab countries as source of damage to the region and the roots of the current turmoil. Amir-Abdollahian, who is also the secretary-general of International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada, told the Palestinian official that politicians in Tel Aviv and the White House had the same policy of weakening the countries in the Middle East, and that Iran’s support for Palestinians would continue ‘unswerving.’
Mr. Salah Sawawi for his part expressed gratitude for Iran’s lavish support for Palestinian people; “we see the Islamic Republic of Iran as a great country and a supporter and a patron and will never forget support of the people and the government for Palestinian issue; we also cherish the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, government, and the Parliament in not abandoning Palestinians in the Intifada as valuable and a blessing on us,” he concluded.
